Hodder Literature: a new and exciting series of literature titles for Key Stage 3 for whole class use. It's 1962 and Bobby Burns is bracing himself for the beginning of term. Not only is he starting at the cheerless grammar school but his dad is mysteriously ill and the Cuban Missile Crisis threatens to trigger off nuclear war - things are changing in his sleepy Keely Bay. But then he's got his friends to help him, all fearless in their own ways: his old friends, tough guy Joseph Connor and the wonder-working Ailsa Spink; and his new ones, Bohemian Daniel Gower and the fire-eating street performer McNulty. With thoughts of power, pain, death, war and friendship swimming around in his head, Bobby must come to terms with both injustice and hope at home, school and in the world outside of Keely Bay.

Hodder Literature: an exciting series of literature titles for Key Stage 3 for whole class use. 'Before the beginning was the gate. And five gatekeepers. Four boys. One girl. The night of everlasting darkness is drawing in. The gate is about to o pen. The gatekeepers must return.' After getting in trouble with the police, 14-year-old Matt Freeman finds himself being fostered by the sinister Jayne Deverill as part of the mysterious LEAF project. There's something strange going on in his new home too - villagers dropping dead, all roads leading back to the same place and the spine-tingling whispering he hears in the dead of night. Matt has spent his whole life denying his special powers but he's now forced to accept he might be inextricably mixed up with the fight against the forces of evil - the Old Ones and the opening of Raven's Gate. The only help comes in the form of a secret organisation called the Nexus (the guardians of the Five gatekeepers) and also a sceptical young journalist. But, ultimately, the responsibility of saving the world from the Old Ones rests with Matt. >

Hodder Literature: an exciting series of literature titles for Key Stage 3 for whole class use. Bill Harris could not be more different from Benny Spinks, the son of a famous footballer and his pop singer wife. Bill knows nothing about football, is never picked for teams and on one occasion scores 6 own goals in a 7-0 defeat. Then, one day, a freak hair-drying incident turns Bill into a Benny Spinks double. Bill is offered look-alike work and so comes to meet Benny. The boys like one another instantly and hatch a plan to swap lives for a day. Confusion follows when both Bill and Benny are kidnapped by rival gangs. However, the boys manage to trick the kidnappers (through a cunning plan involving peanut butter) and each returns to his own life, having learnt something very important about himself. >
